What are you reading?

What are you reading?

More specifically, which book of fiction has you enthralled at this moment? Last year, after being urged on by friends and book reviews, I read ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ by Swedish author/journalist Stieg Larsson. I hated it with a passion, though the writing style was sophisticated and complex, the story was quite disturbing.

Happily a book of fiction was suggested to me and I have adored it, in fact I devoured it and so have the friends and family I recommended it to.

‘A Discovery of Witches’ by historian Deborah Harkness is a fantastic read. This book consumed me for 3-days and nights, almost 600 pages that I could not put down!! Has anyone else read it?

It is a treasure, a book about books, history, Oxford, magic, alchemy, mystery, passion, vampires witches and more.

After reading it. I could not stop thinking about the characters and story, they remained with me for many days, alive inside me. I really enjoyed the mythic realm. There are two more books to come in this series.

Isn’t fiction a most wonderful gift to those of us who enjoy to read it?! After the witches book I read Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. I highly recommend it!!  And currently I am reading Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff.

Ok, what are you reading? What books of fiction have you enjoyed and would you recommend?

Update Summer 2014

Since this original post I have read two more books from the All Souls Trilogy, by Deborah Harkness. They are wonderful, very enjoyable and highly recommended.
